Last October, Natalie got the idea to go see Mount Rushmore after hearing about our aunt's trip to Rapid City, SD. Since our family reunion was at my Grandma's in Mt Pleasant, UT this year, we decided to make the trip up to South Dakota while going for the reunion as well. We left for our trip on Saturday, July 5th and first drove to my Grandma's house. The following Monday we left for Rapid City.
Natalie and I were able to spend 2 full days in Rapid City and Keystone, SD areas sight seeing and playing around. The first day, we took a train ride up to Hill City, rode down the alpine slide, toured old Keystone and saw lots of gold mine homestead remains. The view of Mt Rushmore was very cool. We went later in the evening so we could hang around for the lighting ceremony that night. Day two, we drove out to tour Bear County, USA and saw lots of animals: elk, reindeer, wolves, bears, bison, etc which was very cool and made my Dad so jealous when we showed him the photos!! (He missed seeing the bears.) Then we spent the rest of the day sight seeing around Rapid City, SD. On Thursday we headed back to Utah for the family reunion...
