On State Route 89, just outside of Peeples Valley Arizona is where you'll find this group of large, beautiful trees. It's one of my favorite places in the world. Why? Because my Grandma Hanes used to picnic here as a little girl. 
Back then, Grandma said that driving from Phoenix to Prescott was an all day trip. "Cars just didn't go as fast as they do today." And her parents used to pull off the road under these trees to have lunch and let them play. Grandma said they got to eat bologna sandwiches with mustard and a whole tomato each!
I've probably heard this story of Grandma's a few dozen times, but I love it. Every time I pass these trees I picture my Grandma as a little girl playing and eating lunch here.
